Stop #3 – The Butler House
2004 West Club Boulevard
Mr. and Mrs. Lester Butler built this excellent example of the Dutch Colonial Revival Style.
Mrs. Butler selected the design from the catalogue of the Aladdin Houses Company, a firm which delivered ready-to-build pre-cut homes by rail.
Instead of ordering the house from Aladdin’s Michigan factory; however, the Butlers had their house built by a local contractor.
The house has been beautifully maintained in its original condition. It features a sun room with its own fireplace and the gambrel roof which is the hallmark of the Dutch Colonial.
Mr. Butler came to Durham from Raleigh to manage a furniture company.
